2.- PeopleCurrently the municipality of Tehuacan has 255.000 inhabitants and there are still some families from the groups of the Mixtec, Nahuatl and Popoloca.
3.- AgricultureThe main crops in the municipality are: corn, elote and beans among others, all have recently been planted with sorghum which is quite successful given the high demand in the agricultural sector.
In the horticulture area there are tomatoes, onions and garlic. The main fruits grown are avocados, walnuts, peaches, apricots, apples, and the traditional oranges.
4.- LivestockThe main animals kept in the area are pigs, goats and cattle. Beekeeping has achieved great importance reaching a production of excellent quality, for local consumption and for export.
5.- IndustriesThe most important industries for the people of Tehuacan are:
Factory food for poultry and livestock.
Plastic factories.
Plants for the dehydrating of alfalfa.
The paperboard Factory industries.
Workshops devoted to manufacturing walls of concrete and mud.
Mining: there are deposits of silver, lead, coal mines and stone quarries, slate, marble and granite. There extraction and / or benefit of rocks and sand clay and other non-metallic minerals.
